Dr. Amy Green, R.Psych.
Hello! I am a Registered Psychologist and have a PhD in Counselling Psychology from the University of Calgary. As a therapist, I am passionate about providing a safe, non-judgmental, and empathic space where you can feel supported and heard.
My approach is very collaborative; I believe that therapy thrives through a strong therapeutic relationship. Working together, we will draw upon your strengths and values to set goals that are meaningful to you. I hope to help you cultivate more self-compassion, acceptance, and connection in your life. I practice with respect and inclusiveness towards people from all backgrounds, cultures, and worldviews, and am mindful of the socio-cultural and contextual factors that contribute to human suffering.
I’ve worked in community, hospital and school environments, supporting folks from many different walks of life. Currently, I provide individualized therapy for kids (ages 8+), youth, and adults. I work with challenges like depression, stress and anxiety, perfectionism, life transitions, and healing from traumatic experiences. I have a special interest in women’s mental health, including perinatal and postpartum mental wellness and parenting challenges. I also dedicate a large portion of my practice for working with adolescents who are navigating the unique challenges of this time of life.
In addition to clinical work, I write professionally about mental health-related topics. You’ll find my work featured in publications like Today’s Parent, alive, and Psychology Today. I’m also an associate professor in the Master of Counselling program at City University of Seattle.
I was raised in Salmon Arm and, after living in different places across Canada and the world, my husband and I decided to set roots back in the Shuswap. When I’m not working, you’ll find me chasing after my two young daughters and enjoying time outdoors with family and friends. We are thrilled to be back living and working in this beautiful and unique community.
I look forward to connecting with you! You can call the office at 778-489-5630 or email me at dramygreen@outlook.com.
*I currently offer sessions in-person and virtually. Fees for individual therapy are $180 per 50-minute appointment. These fees are in line with the recommendations of the B.C. College of Psychologists. I also dedicate a portion of my practice for lower-cost spaces for those with financial barriers to accessing therapy. Please let me know if this may apply to you.
